Need a Ride to Your Doctor?

Your insurance may already cover it. If you're on Medicaid, free rides to the doctor, dentist, dialysis, and even the pharmacy are part of your benefits in every state. Here's how to get one — in plain language, no runaround.

How it works — 3 simple steps

1

Check your card

On Medicaid? Flip over your Medicaid or health plan ID card. There's usually a transportation number printed right on the back — that's your starting point.

2

Call a few days ahead

Most states want 2–3 business days of notice. Call the number for your state below and tell them when and where your appointment is.

3

Have your info ready

Your full name, Medicaid ID number, appointment date and time, your doctor's name and address, and your pickup address. If you use a wheelchair, walker, or oxygen, mention it so they send the right vehicle.

Good to know: these are scheduled rides, not emergencies — for an emergency, always call 911. Drivers usually ask you to be ready 15 minutes early. If your ride is running late, call the broker's "Where's My Ride" line instead of rebooking.

Find your state's ride number

Tap the number to call. Booking rules differ by state — the note under each number tells you how far ahead to book.

What if my ride is denied?

Don't panic — and don't take a phone "no" as final. Here's what to do:

  • Get it in writing. If you're denied, the broker must send you a letter stating the specific reason and your appeal rights. Ask for it.
  • Call back and re-check. Most phone denials turn out to be simple booking mistakes — wrong date, wrong address, provider not listed. A second call fixes a lot of them.
  • You can appeal. Every state has a Medicaid fair-hearing process for denied rides. The written denial letter explains how.
  • Common fixable reasons: the ride was requested too close to the appointment, the provider isn't enrolled in Medicaid, or a past no-show needs clearing up.

Recurring appointments? Set it and forget it.

Going to dialysis, chemo, or physical therapy on a regular schedule? Ask the broker for a standing order — one call sets up repeating rides so you never have to rebook each visit.

Don't want to figure this out alone? Text me.

I'm Christopher. Send me your state and your appointment date, and I'll personally walk you through getting your ride booked — what number to call, what to say, what to have ready. No charge, no catch. This is just help.

One honest note: Marketplace health plans usually don't include ride benefits — Medicaid does, as a required benefit. Either way, the ride help above is free whether or not you're my client.

Rather do it online? You still get me.
