Prescription Too Expensive? Let Me Check Your Options

Text me the name of your most expensive prescription. I'll run the whole check — free.

I'm Christopher Horne, a licensed health insurance broker. Prescriptions are where I see people overpay the most — often because nobody ever checked. So this is a standing offer to my clients and anyone they send my way: text me the name of your most expensive prescription to 954-787-9118, and I'll check every legitimate route I know to lower what you pay. There's no charge for the check, and you don't have to buy anything from me.

New: Look Up Any Drug Yourself

I built a free tool that pulls plain-English drug facts straight from the FDA — plus manufacturer savings cards, patient assistance programs, and pharmacy price-check links for whatever you search. Try it, then text me your meds list and I’ll run the full check personally.

Start With One Text

Tap below and your messaging app opens — just add the name of the prescription that costs you the most.

How It Works

  1. You text me the drug name. Just the name — that's all I need to start. Please don't text medical details, income numbers, or anything private; if we need more, we'll talk by phone.
  2. I run the check through every route below, in order.
  3. I text you back what I found — within one business day. If there's help, I'll send it and walk you through the next step. If there isn't, I'll tell you that honestly too.

What I Check, In Order

1. Your Own Plan First

Is the drug on your plan's list, what does your plan charge for it, and does your plan have a preferred pharmacy or mail-order option that prices it lower? Sometimes the fix is already inside the coverage you have.

2. The Manufacturer's Assistance Program

Most drug makers run programs that supply their brand-name medicine free to people who qualify, usually based on household income. This is the check most people have never heard of — and it's the first place I look for an expensive brand-name drug. I look programs up on NeedyMeds and the Medicine Assistance Tool.

3. Manufacturer Copay Cards

If you have private insurance and the copay itself is the problem, the manufacturer may offer a copay card for that drug. (These are for private insurance only — they can't be used with other government coverage.)

4. Free Discount Prices

Free discount options like Optum Perks and GoodRx coupons, and mail-order generics through Cost Plus Drugs. Prices vary a lot by pharmacy, so I compare. More free options live on my Ways to Save page.

5. Charity and Community Help

Charity foundations help people with insurance pay for certain treatments, and a free benefits check can surface other programs your household qualifies for. Funds open and close, so there's never a guarantee — but you're worth checking.

6. A Question for Your Doctor

If nothing fits, the last route is asking your prescriber whether a lower-cost alternative would work for you. That's always your doctor's call — never mine. If they change anything, I'll re-check the price on the new one.

The Honest Part (Please Read)

  • I can't promise approval, eligibility, or any specific price. Manufacturers and programs make those decisions. What I promise is the check itself, and a straight answer about what I found.
  • A discount is not insurance. A coupon gives you a discount price instead of your insurance price on that fill — you use one or the other, never both.
  • Paying outside your plan usually doesn't count toward your deductible. If you're working toward your deductible, I'll tell you before cash pricing slows that down. Sometimes your plan is genuinely the better deal, and I'll say so.
  • I never recommend changing, splitting, or stopping a medication. That's between you and your prescriber.
  • I make nothing from this. No company pays me to run these checks. It's part of how I take care of my clients.

What Manufacturer Programs May Ask For

If a manufacturer program fits, here's what they typically need — you'll send these directly to the program, never to me by text:

  • Your part of the application, signed
  • Proof of household income (for example a tax return, pay stubs, or a benefits letter)
  • Your prescriber's section — your doctor signs part of the form and provides the prescription
  • Sometimes proof of what your insurance does or doesn't cover for that drug

Applying is always free. Approvals usually take a few weeks, enrollment is typically up to a year at a time, and you re-apply each year — I'll remind you when yours comes up. If you'd like, I can sit on a three-way call with the program and you, with your permission, to get the application started.
