Identity Verification: Re-Proof Early
Login.gov / ID.me re-proofing is now the front door to CMS systems.
Every existing agent and broker must re-identity-proof through Login.gov or ID.me to connect to CMS systems for 2027. New paperwork is part of the job now.
What’s Changing
- Renewed federal identity proofing for all registered agents and brokers — not just new ones.
- Your CMS access ties to the verified federal identity; mismatched names or stale records will slow you down at the worst moment.
- Assisted applications must include numbers CMS can verify — collect documents deliberately, never guess.
My Checklist
- Complete re-proofing early — not during peak enrollment weeks.
- Keep your NPN, licensing, and carrier appointments consistent with your legal name everywhere.
- Store client identity documents nothing-by-text: no SSNs or bank details over SMS, ever.
