Hidden Gems Your Health Insurance Already Pays For
Some Marketplace carriers will literally put money on a debit card when you get your annual checkup. Others discount your gym membership. Most members never use a dime of it — because nobody told them it exists.
Every program below was verified on the carrier’s own official page on October 8, 2026. Dollar figures are what the carrier advertises — not a promise. Programs change every plan year and vary by state and plan.
Why Nobody Told You About This
Here’s the honest truth: agents don’t get paid to explain perks. They get paid when you enroll. So the rewards programs, the gym discounts, the debit cards for checkups — all of it sits there unused while members leave free money on the table.
I’m Christopher Horne, a licensed health insurance broker working in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, and Virginia. I think you should know what you’re already paying for. Read the list, then text me your plan name and I’ll tell you exactly what your plan includes — free, whether or not you’re my client.

Carriers That Pay You for Checkups
These are wellness rewards programs run by the carriers themselves. You complete healthy activities — usually things you’d do anyway, like an annual physical — and earn rewards you can spend on healthcare costs, bills, or everyday needs.
Ambetter — My Health Pays®
Ambetter advertises up to $500 in rewards for healthy choices: annual wellness visits, qualifying health screenings, online challenges, and educational videos.
Rewards can go toward monthly premiums, doctor copays, deductibles, and coinsurance — or everyday bills like utilities, your cell phone, rent, transportation, and childcare. There’s also an online rewards store.

Oscar — Oscar Unlocks
Oscar’s rewards program earns points for checkups, screenings, and routine care. Starting January 1, 2027, points can be applied to your monthly premium or loaded onto an Oscar Unlocks Debit Card to spend at major retailers.
Published examples: $20 for completing your profile and onboarding, $25 for a health assessment, $20 for a preventive care visit, $30 for switching a prescription from a 30- to 90-day supply. Members also get exclusive discounts on fitness, vision care, dining, and everyday essentials.
Verified October 8, 2026 on hioscar.com. Available to active members 18+; excludes NJ and OK residents. Program terms vary by plan.
Cigna Healthcare — Take Control Rewards®
Cigna advertises up to $325 in reward points for completing simple educational online activities. Points can be redeemed for rewards or a debit card to help with healthcare costs.
Open to primary subscribers 18 and older with an active Cigna Healthcare medical Individual and Family plan.

Florida Blue — Better You Strides
Florida Blue advertises up to $100 per year for each covered adult 18+ — including a one-time $30 reward just for joining. Earn points for your health assessment, yearly wellness checkup, stress-management activities, and more (100 points = $1).
Points are redeemed for a reloadable prepaid card you can use for healthcare expenses like doctor visits, prescriptions, and vision and dental care.

Molina Healthcare — My Healthy Rewards
Molina’s Marketplace rewards program pays gift cards for completed wellness activities — recently advertised amounts include $150 for an annual wellness exam plus health risk assessment, with additional rewards for screenings like colorectal, blood pressure, and diabetes checks.
Members choose their gift card from stores like Walmart, Amazon, Kroger, CVS, Target, and Dollar General, claimed through the My Molina member portal.
Verified October 8, 2026 on molinamarketplace.com and Molina’s official provider bulletins. Reward amounts and eligible activities vary by state and plan year.
Aetna CVS Health — Marketplace Rewards
Aetna advertises a rewards program in select markets where members can earn a gift card for completing activities like a health risk assessment or selecting/updating their primary care physician.
No annual maximum is published on Aetna’s official page — amounts and availability vary by market, so this one is worth asking about directly.

Gym & Fitness Discounts
Not every carrier hands out gym money the same way. Here’s what’s actually verified — and one important thing that is not an ACA benefit:
Cigna — Active&Fit Direct™
Cigna Healthcare’s Healthy Rewards discount program gives members access to Active&Fit Direct — a discounted gym membership with thousands of participating fitness centers, plus discounts on wearable fitness devices and virtual workouts.
This is a discount program, not insurance — you pay the discounted rate yourself. Call the number on Cigna’s Healthy Rewards page to enroll.
Verified October 8, 2026 on cigna.com. Discount programs are not insurance and availability varies.
Blue Cross Blue Shield — Blue365®
Blue365 is a free discount program for BCBS members (including many Marketplace plans): deals on gym memberships, fitness equipment and wearables, nutrition programs, vision and hearing, and more. No claims to file — you just register with your member ID.
Blue365’s own fitness materials advertise gym membership deals and up to 20% off fitness gear — offers rotate, so check what’s live when you join.
Verified October 8, 2026 via BCBS of Texas’s official site (connect.bcbstx.com). Discount program, not insurance; deals change.
A Note on SilverSneakers
You’ll see SilverSneakers gym memberships advertised with some health plans — that program is for Medicare plans only. It is not an ACA Marketplace benefit. If anyone tells you a Marketplace plan “comes with SilverSneakers,” that’s a red flag.
How to Actually Claim Your Rewards
Almost every program works the same way:
- Log in to your carrier’s member portal (or app) and find the rewards section — sometimes you have to opt in or accept terms first.
- Do the activity — usually your annual physical or a screening you’d get anyway.
- Claim it — some carriers track it automatically from your doctor’s claim; others ask you to submit a short form in the portal.
The number one reason people miss out: they never activated the program. Ten minutes in your member portal could be worth hundreds of dollars.
Don’t Leave Free Money on the Table
Text me your plan name. I’ll check which of these your plan actually carries, how to activate it, and what you need to do to earn it — free, and I’ll keep it between us.
The Fine Print (Read This)
Reward programs change every plan year and vary by state and plan — what’s listed here is what each carrier advertises on its official site as of October 8, 2026. Your specific plan may offer more, less, or different rewards. Dollar figures are the carriers’ advertised maximums, not promises or guarantees. Rewards may have tax implications — ask your tax advisor. I’m a broker, not the carrier: the final word on any program is your plan documents and the carrier itself.
