Health Insurance in Orlando, Florida

Theme-park town, gig-economy reality: Orlando workers need coverage that fits irregular income.

Orlando’s economy runs on tourism, hospitality, and a fast-growing tech and freelance scene. A lot of Central Florida workers — from theme-park staff to vacation-rental managers to rideshare drivers — don’t get benefits through a job. The federal Marketplace is where individual coverage lives, and with income that varies month to month, estimating it right matters a lot here.

How the Marketplace Works in Florida

Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period.

Who I Help in Orlando

Most of my Orlando clients fall into a few groups:

  • Hospitality and tourism workers — theme-park, hotel, and restaurant workers across Orange and Osceola counties.
  • Gig and freelance workers — rideshare drivers, vacation-rental hosts, creators, and contractors with variable income.
  • Growing families — young families in the suburbs weighing premiums against pediatrician networks and prescription costs.
  • People between jobs — COBRA is often shockingly expensive; Marketplace plans usually cover the same stretch for far less.

A Local Note on Choosing Well

If your income goes up and down, your tax credit estimate needs care — estimate too low and you could owe at tax time, too high and you overpay all year. I walk Orlando clients through realistic income estimates so there are no April surprises.

Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone

The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.

As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
