Health Insurance in Delray Beach, Florida
Atlantic Avenue energy — restaurateurs, creatives, and early retirees.
Delray Beach mixes Atlantic Avenue restaurant owners, creative freelancers, and a wave of early retirees who chose the beach over the office. Plenty of Delray households work for themselves — chefs, gallery owners, contractors, real-estate agents — which means no employer plan and a Marketplace application that has to handle variable income honestly. That is exactly the quoting I do every week.
How the Marketplace Works in Florida
Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.
Who I Help in Delray Beach
Most of my Delray Beach clients fall into a few groups:
- Restaurant and retail owners — Atlantic Avenue operators and their key staff without group coverage.
- Freelancers and creatives — Designers, photographers, and consultants with month-to-month income.
- Early retirees — 55-to-64 households covering the gap years on the coast.
- Recovery community members — Delray has a large recovery community; Marketplace plans cover behavioral health as an essential benefit, and I explain options privately and without judgment.
A Local Note on Choosing Well
Delray Medical Center and the clinics along Linton Boulevard anchor local care, and many residents also use specialists up in Boynton and Boca. I check the full corridor — home doctors, specialists, and prescriptions — before recommending any plan.
Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone
The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.
As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll — the same combination I walk through on every call in every state I serve. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
