Health Insurance in Coral Gables, Florida

The City Beautiful — law, banking, and university professionals.

Coral Gables is old-Miami prestige — law firms, international banks, University of Miami professionals, and tree-lined executive neighborhoods. Households here expect strong networks and clear financial math, especially professionals leaving firms to start practices. I provide exactly that comparison, carrier by carrier.

How the Marketplace Works in Florida

Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.

Who I Help in Coral Gables

Most of my Coral Gables clients fall into a few groups:

  • Attorneys and bankers — Professionals leaving firms or starting practices.
  • University households — UM faculty and medical staff families.
  • Executive families — Gables households between employer plans.
  • Business owners — Miracle Mile retailers and restaurateurs.

A Local Note on Choosing Well

Doctors Hospital and Baptist Health facilities anchor Gables care, with the UM medical district minutes away. I confirm your specialists across those systems first.

Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone

The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.

As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll — the same combination I walk through on every call in every state I serve. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
