Texas Blood Drives: Give Blood With Carter BloodCare
Donor centers and community drives across North, Central, and East Texas
Texas hospitals transfuse blood around the clock, and the supply comes from neighbors like you. Carter BloodCare is the main community blood center for a huge stretch of Texas — here’s where to give, including its Baylor Donor Center in Dallas.
Community first, like every page in this series: one blood donation can help save up to three lives, takes about an hour of your day, and comes with a free mini health check. Carter BloodCare runs donor centers and mobile drives across North, Central, and East Texas — here’s how to find yours.

What Donors Get: A Free Mini Health Check
Every donation starts with a free mini health check — blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and iron check — before you ever roll up your sleeve. It’s a genuinely useful snapshot of your numbers, at no cost. It doesn’t replace a doctor’s visit, but plenty of people learn their blood pressure runs high for the very first time at a blood drive — and knowing early is how small problems stay small.
Thank-You Gifts, Texas Style
Texas blood centers thank donors with rotating promotions — recent examples across the state’s centers have included things like free movie tickets, gift cards, and t-shirts for people who give. These are examples from recent promotions — offers change by center, drive, and date, and no gift is guaranteed. Check Carter BloodCare’s page for what’s running when you book.
Can I Donate in Texas? The Basics
- Age: most centers accept donors at 16 with parental consent, and 17+ on your own.
- Bring: a photo ID.
- Time: about an hour total; the donation itself takes roughly 10 minutes.
- How often: whole blood can generally be given every 56 days.
Eat before you go, drink plenty of water, and let the screening team answer any eligibility questions privately at check-in — that’s what they’re there for.
Coverage Questions While You’re Here?
That free mini checkup is a great first look at your numbers. If it ever points to something a doctor should see, having coverage in place first is what keeps a scare from becoming a bill. I help Texans compare health plans in plain English — no fee for my help, since the insurance company pays me. Call or text any time.
