Health Insurance in Stuart, Florida
The Sailfish Capital — boaters, trades, and Treasure Coast retirees.
Stuart calls itself the Sailfish Capital of the World, and its economy floats on marinas, fishing, trades, and small businesses — plus a steady flow of Treasure Coast retirees. Self-employment is everywhere here, from charter captains to contractors, and those households need Marketplace plans priced on real, provable income. That is my home turf as a broker.
How the Marketplace Works in Florida
Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.
Who I Help in Stuart
Most of my Stuart clients fall into a few groups:
- Charter and marine pros — Captains, mates, and marina businesses on the St. Lucie River.
- Contractors and trades — Owner-operators across Martin County with crews to protect.
- Treasure Coast retirees — Early-retiree households in Port Salerno and Palm City.
- Small-shop owners — Downtown Stuart retailers without group plans.
A Local Note on Choosing Well
Cleveland Clinic Martin Health anchors care in Stuart, with specialists running down to Jupiter and up to Port St. Lucie. I verify your doctors across that corridor first, then compare total cost — premium, deductible, and prescriptions together.
Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone
The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.
As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll — the same combination I walk through on every call in every state I serve. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
