Health Insurance in Sedona, Arizona
Red rock country — artists, healers, and hospitality owners.
Sedona’s red rocks draw artists, healers, tour operators, and retirees from everywhere — and almost nobody here has a traditional employer plan. Galleries, jeep tours, spas, and vacation rentals run on self-employment, which makes Sedona a pure Marketplace town. I quote seasonal and self-employed income honestly so credits survive tax season.
How the Marketplace Works in Arizona
Arizona uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Arizona expanded Medicaid through AHCCCS, so lower-income residents may qualify for AHCCCS while households above that line use Marketplace tax credits — I check both doors. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.
Who I Help in Sedona
Most of my Sedona clients fall into a few groups:
- Gallery and tour owners — Uptown Sedona operators and guides.
- Hospitality owners — Inns, spas, and vacation-rental hosts.
- Artists and healers — Independent practitioners with variable income.
- Red-rock retirees — Early-retiree couples in West Sedona.
A Local Note on Choosing Well
Verde Valley Medical Center’s Sedona facilities and Flagstaff and Cottonwood hospitals serve residents. I check your doctors across the Verde Valley first.
Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone
The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.
As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll — the same combination I walk through on every call in every state I serve. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
