Health Insurance in Phoenix, Arizona
The Valley of the Sun has one of the fastest-growing freelance economies in the West.
Phoenix keeps adding people — remote workers, retirees, contractors, and small business owners across Maricopa County. Arizona uses the federal Marketplace for individual coverage, and plan lineups in the Valley change every year, so last year’s best pick is rarely this year’s.
How the Marketplace Works in Arizona
Arizona uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period.
Who I Help in Phoenix
Most of my Phoenix clients fall into a few groups:
- Remote workers — people who moved to Phoenix for the lifestyle and need Arizona coverage that fits.
- Contractors and trades — construction, HVAC, and landscaping pros working for themselves across the Valley.
- Realtors and mortgage pros — commission earners who need smart income estimates for tax credits.
- Early retirees — folks in their early 60s enjoying Arizona a few years before 65.
A Local Note on Choosing Well
Arizona summers send a lot of people to urgent care and the ER — heat illness is real here. When I compare Phoenix plans, I look hard at ER copays and urgent-care costs, not just the premium, because that’s where Valley families actually spend.
Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone
The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.
As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
