Health Insurance in Daytona Beach, Florida

Racing, beaches, and a hard-working Volusia economy — health plans for Daytona’s workers and families.

Daytona Beach is more than the Speedway — it’s a working Volusia County city with healthcare, education (Embry-Riddle, Daytona State), hospitality, and a big service economy. Wages here are honest but not high, which is exactly where federal Marketplace tax credits do their heaviest lifting. Whether you’re a restaurant worker on the beachside, a young family in Port Orange, or a contractor in DeLand, Florida’s federal Marketplace plans are built for this income range — if you enroll with the income math done right.

How the Marketplace Works in Florida

Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period.

Who I Help in Daytona Beach

Most of my Daytona Beach clients fall into a few groups:

  • Hospitality and beach workers — hotels, restaurants, and beachside businesses with thin or no benefits.
  • Young families — stretching wages across rent, childcare, and coverage in Port Orange, Holly Hill, and beyond.
  • College-town workers — Embry-Riddle and Daytona State staff, students aging off parent plans, and education support workers.
  • Trades and contractors — self-employed workers who need coverage without an employer plan.

A Local Note on Choosing Well

Volusia County has its own rating area and hospital landscape — Halifax Health and AdventHealth facilities anchor care here, and your network choice decides which doors are open. I verify your doctors and quote your exact Daytona ZIP before you pick anything.

Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone

The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.

As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll — the same combination I walk through on every call in every state I serve. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
