Health Insurance in Plantation, Florida
Broward suburb of professionals, hospital workers, and families buying their own coverage.
Plantation sits in the middle of Broward — Plantation General and Westside Regional corridors, corporate offices along Pine Island and University, and a lot of two-income families who still buy coverage on their own.
How the Marketplace Works in Florida
Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.
Who I Help in Plantation
Most of my Plantation clients fall into a few groups:
- Hospital & health-system workers — Staff and contractors who work the hospital corridor but need individual coverage.
- Self-employed professionals — Consultants and firm owners around Plantation Acres and Jacaranda.
- Families — Parents comparing Silver cost-sharing against Gold for real family use.
- Corporate leavers — Professionals between roles weighing COBRA against Marketplace options.
A Local Note on Choosing Well
Plantation care often runs through HCA Florida Westside and Plantation-area specialists — in-network status swings by carrier and plan tier, so network checks come before price in my process.
Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone
The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.
As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
