Health Insurance in Davie, Florida

Western Broward's equestrian town — Nova Southeastern, trades, and growing families.

Davie mixes university life around Nova Southeastern, horse-country properties out west, and fast-growing subdivisions — a lot of students aging off parent plans, trades, and young families buying coverage for the first time.

How the Marketplace Works in Florida

Florida uses the federal Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. During Open Enrollment (November 1, 2026 – January 15, 2027) you can shop, compare, and enroll — enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Depending on income, federal tax credits can lower your premium and cost-sharing reductions can lower what you pay for care on Silver plans. Florida has not expanded Medicaid, so there is a coverage gap below 100% of the poverty level — but tax credits are available at 100% and above, which is where I do most of my quoting. Outside Open Enrollment, a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby — triggers a Special Enrollment Period, usually 60 days.

Who I Help in Davie

Most of my Davie clients fall into a few groups:

  • Young adults aging off — 26-year-olds losing a parent plan — a qualifying event with a deadline.
  • Trades & contractors — Self-employed crews whose income needs documenting the right way.
  • University families — Grad students and staff households not on an employer plan.
  • New movers — Households relocating to Davie triggering Special Enrollment.

A Local Note on Choosing Well

Davie households use everything from Memorial Regional in Hollywood to Plantation and Sunrise facilities — I check the full hospital picture, not just the closest building.

Why Work With a Broker Instead of Going It Alone

The Marketplace website will show you plans, but it won’t tell you which doctors are actually easy to see, which plans have surprised people with bills, or how a plan change next year affects the prescriptions you take. That’s what I do.

As a licensed broker, I help you compare plans side by side — networks, drug coverage, deductibles, and real total cost — in plain English. There’s no fee for my help; I’m paid by the insurance company. Many of my clients also stack supplemental coverage on top of their major medical: Golden Rule (UnitedHealthcare) AccidentWise, HospitalWise, and DentalWise Max dental coverage — benefit amounts and limits vary by the policy you choose, and we review the actual schedule together before you enroll. And I don’t disappear after enrollment: when you get a confusing bill or need to change plans, you call me directly at 954-787-9118.
